I work with the translation, editing and proofreading of informative texts. Swedish is my mother tongue and English is my second language. Although I take on work in many different fields, previous education and experience have provided me with a particularly good knowledge of railway, environmental questions, wood technology, business economics and management, art, craft, design and music.
In technical translation, interpreting and presenting information correctly is often more important than a verbatim translation of the source text. In many cases style is also very significant. In order to supply an insightful interpretation of the source language texts as well as a fluent and correct translation, I make all translations in close co-operation with a native English speaker.
Proofreading may involve several aspects in a text. Besides the obvious ones, like spelling and grammar, I also find it very interesting to work with the choice of words and text structure in order to bring out the information as clearly as possible.
A growing share of my work consists of language guidance and proofreading of English texts written by non-native speakers. International co-operation requires a joint working language, and English is often considered the natural choice. In Sweden many large companies use English as house language, and a corresponding development can be seen in many other countries.
You may sometimes find it difficult to write in your mother tongue in a way which is correct and precise as well as easy to read. Naturally, it is even harder to write well in a foreign language.
I work with a PC, Win XP and Wordfast. I am well acquainted with Microsoft Office and with the Internet.
